Welcome to Wise Choice Racing, a brand new, UK based horseracing syndicate open to all. Join us to enjoy the thrill of genuine racehorse ownership with all the fun and benefits at an affordable cost. Be part of our story.
We are hoping to attract a new generation of horseracing fans and what better way to do that than by taking the plunge and becoming an owner yourself? We offer shares from as little as 1%, either full ownership or a share lease scheme option. There are no hidden fees, no ridiculous mark-ups and no extra costs whatsoever.
We want to offer an exciting, affordable and involving syndicate aimed at the next generation of racing fans. Horseracing is such a thrilling and rewarding sport, but it can feel a bit inaccessible to outsiders. Ownership has historically belonged to those with deep pockets and long-established connections in the industry, with many every-day racing fans feeling locked out of the ownership experience. We are hoping to help change that.
We want everyone to feel valued and welcomed at WCR so no matter what share type or size you opt for, you will be treated as part of the team and you will be entitled to receive all of the associated benefits. Please browse our tabs to find out more.
Two exciting horses available now, with more on the way. View pricing, pedigrees and availability.
Dan has over a decade of experience in multiple roles within the industry. Find out more about his vision for WCR.
Choose the ownership structure that suits you best.
You actually own your relevant percentage of the horse. In addition to all membership benefits, you are entitled to your share of the re-sale value. For example, if you own 5% and the horse is sold for £100,000, you'd receive £5,000 (minus costs). You may also sell your share, potentially for a profit.
You lease a 1% share for the duration of your membership but don't actually own the horse. An ideal option for those who want to dip their toe into racehorse ownership, while still enjoying all the benefits of being a racehorse owner.
You may cease your ownership at any time with one month's notice. Any prize money owed will be paid at the end of that notice period. See our FAQs page for more details.
No matter which horse or which ownership option you choose, every WCR member receives the full suite of benefits below, unless otherwise stated.
Your % of any prize money and bonuses won, paid bi-annually in June and December to our full members and paid at the individual 6 month mark for our lease-share members.
Opportunity for owners enclosure access, owners lunch and exclusive parade ring access when your horse runs (Full Members prioritised if over-subscribed).
Regular visits to see your horse up close and personal and meet your trainer. The authentic behind the scenes experience. Friends and family welcome.
If it's decided that your horse will be sold, you will receive your share of the sales proceeds, plus you have the option to sell your share, hopefully for more than you've paid. (Full members only)
Share certificate, ownership contract, your horse's story so far, plus complimentary WCR cap for full ownership members.
Weekly email and direct access to the syndicate manager and our ownership community on WhatsApp. Exclusive behind the scenes content and updates from our stable, keeping you connected to your horse every step of the way.
Exclusive access to WCR events and meet-ups including big race-days and annual golf day. All part of the package.
We hold a vote on nominated names from members for unraced horses. You could be cheering on a horse you've named.
Get a month's training fees refunded by paying for 12 month's membership up front. On a 5% share that represents a £200 saving. (Full members only)
Regular competitions and giveaways for members. Being part of WCR has its perks beyond raceday.
We've thought long and hard about what makes our syndicate great. Here's why WCR members get more than their money's worth.
Prize money and sales returns, raceday badges, training yard visits, behind the scenes content, members' WhatsApp group, exclusive team events, free WCR merch and much more.
Full members actually own their share of a racehorse in training. No 'club' membership, no gimmicks. Some syndicates offer thousands of 'shares' per horse with highly inflated mark-ups where you don't really own the horse at all. None of that nonsense with WCR.
Completely transparent. No extortionate sales mark-ups, no extra costs, no nasty surprises and no long-term commitments. The price you see is the price you pay.
We limit each individual horse to 100 members maximum, though it will usually be a lot less. This enables us to offer a personalised and boutique experience for our owners and keeps our community small and tight-knit.
Be a part of something from the very beginning. You're not joining an established syndicate, you're helping to build one. Become a founding member of WCR.
A syndicate built on passion, community and a love of racing, open to anyone who shares that spirit. Become a part of our tribe and share the incredible ownership journey with your fellow like-minded WCR members.
We aim to establish ourselves across the country. North, South, East, West and Central, so every member has a chance to be close to the action, no matter where they live.
We aim to build towards offering a mix of older horses with proven form, unraced 2yos with Royal Ascot potential and jumps horses targeting the Cheltenham Festival. Something for everyone.
Dan sources all horses personally meaning no additional agent fees passed on to you. He can also ride out our horses himself giving us the inside scoop to how they are progressing. True, first-hand insight.
We sign up for all bonus schemes including the Great British Bonus (fillies and mares) and target valuable race series, maximising prize money returns for our members wherever possible at no extra cost to you.
We are a selling syndicate. If the right offer comes in for one of our horses, we will look to sell, potentially bringing our full owners a considerable return on their investment.
At the end of their racing careers, our horses will be found five-star forever homes. Members have first priority for re-homing if they have the necessary experience. We will never compromise on welfare.
"Horseracing is such a thrilling and rewarding sport, but it can feel a bit inaccessible to outsiders. We are hoping to help change that, one member at a time."— Dan, Founder of Wise Choice Racing Syndicates
Every horse we acquire is selected with care. Inspected in person, independently vetted, pedigree analysis completed and then placed with trainers we know and trust. View our string and see which horse catches your eye.
'Bruno' as he is affectionately known, was the first horse Dan ever bought as a foal. A fine looking horse who will do plenty of growing and filling out from 2 to 3, meaning he should just keep on improving and improving. Dan viewed him at the sales as he used to work with and ride his half-brother, who would have made into a Group horse had his career not been cut short through injury. Hopefully this lad can make up into a classy performer in time as with his size and scope, he should just keep getting better and better. He's already shown plenty of ability in his two runs to date. On debut the occasion got to him a little and he was very green throughout, having raced alone up the middle of the track. He showed major improvement second time out in a valuable £20k Class 2 novice to finish 4th and we are looking forward to his next race before he enters nursery handicaps. His big end of season target is a £100k race at York which he has qualified for. Sure to give our members a fantastic day out. Fingers crossed we make it there!

Small in stature but bursting with character and personality, Mini Marj is easy to develop a soft spot for. With Galileo as her sire's sire and Dubawi as her dam's sire, we have bought into the blood of two of the greatest stallions in racing history. The dam, Degree, is out of Champion Mare Echelon, making her a half-sister to brilliant multiple Group 1 performer Integral. Star quality all the way down the page. A lovely Cheveley Park pedigree. She's shown considerable promise in training and we look forward to her debut in the Autumn. Bred to improve with time and distance, anything she does as a 2yo is a bonus. 100% Great British Bonus qualified, meaning she qualifies for up to £100k in bonuses on top of prize money. Further down the line, she holds her value as a broodmare prospect, making her an exciting medium to long-term investment.

"We don't want to be on the perimeter, watching from the stands. We want to walk into the winners enclosure as owners and we want to bring a whole generation with us."— Wise Choice Racing
Dan has been involved in the horseracing industry for over a decade, working his way up from a stable lad who didn't sit on a horse until he was 20, to senior management positions in major UK flat yards, as well as establishing his own bloodstock company.
Ambitious but laid-back and approachable, Dan prides himself on his honesty and integrity. His passion for the thoroughbred and the horseracing industry is unwavering, though he recognises the need to make ownership affordable and accessible to every day racing fans in order to ensure the future of the sport is in safe hands. Hopefully Wise Choice Racing can play a small part in fulfilling that ambition.
Dan has a good eye for a horse, an in-depth knowledge of the racing programme and a strong network of contacts across the industry. He sources all of our horses himself, meaning there are no additional agent fees passed on to our members.
Dan has worked with and ridden multiple top-class horses throughout his career, including several Group race winners. This means on occasions when he goes in to ride our horses in their training yards, he can report back first-hand to our members exactly how they are getting on, a nice advantage over our competitors. With his BHA Trainer's Licence Modules fully completed, you can be assured you are in safe and knowledgeable hands.
During his time in the industry, Dan has dealt with various syndicates and racing clubs, usually finding himself in disbelief at the outrageous valuations and mark-ups being charged with thousands of 'shares' being created for each horse. This is a big reason why Dan wanted to set up his own syndicate, to offer true value and a personalised service to his members. With a limited number of members per horse and a minimum share size of 1%, we offer genuine ownership and an exclusive experience.
"With WCR you are buying into the horseracing dream. We want to eventually compete on the biggest stages in the biggest races. Come and be a part of a new community of ambitious minds as we begin our journey along that road. I hope to see you on the racecourse soon."— Dan Wise, Founder of Wise Choice Racing
Meet our new horses, post-race analysis, updates from the WCR camp and Dan's Blog will all be posted here. In the meantime, members will receive regular updates, behind the scenes content and exclusive insight directly via email and our WhatsApp group.

Having a horse in full training isn't cheap. The average cost can be anywhere between £3,000 to £4,000+ per month per horse — and that doesn't necessarily include major vet bills, entry fees, transport fees, VAT or BHA admin fees. Your monthly fee helps to cover the cost of all of the above. The monthly fee includes a syndicate management fee of £7.50 per 1% share per month. This is retained by WCR from the fees collected to cover the cost of syndicate management, administration fees, yard visits and members' events. The remaining £41.50 per 1% per month is applied towards the horse's training costs. The training bill to WCR can vary month to month depending on several factors, but your monthly fee is set from day one and will not increase for the duration of your membership with us. Due to the volatile nature of racehorse ownership, it's possible that on any given month, training costs could exceed the amount we charge. On those occasions WCR will cover the deficit. On occasions where the amount we charge exceeds the cost of training, WCR will retain the difference to put towards future costs and re-investment. This policy ensures we don't have to pass on any contingency fees to members, as well as giving our members peace of mind that there will never be any additional charges. Full members can make savings by taking advantage of our free month's membership scheme when they pay for 12 month's training fees up front.
Every trainer has their own style of training and we take a wide range of factors into account when selecting which trainers to use for our horses. Primarily we are focused on their skill and track record, their level of horse welfare, the owners experience provided at the yard and on race-day, their engagements and updates to owners and the value they provide our members. Dan's experience and contacts in the industry help pinpoint the right fit for each individual horse to maximise their chances of success. We also take into consideration the location of the yard, as we eventually want to have our string spread across the UK.
We pay our full members their prize money twice a year, in early June and December. We pay our lease members their prize money at every 6 month interval of their individual membership.
You can either sell your share privately at whatever price you like (provided it is to a 'fit and proper person') or we can make you an offer to buy back your share. However, there is no guarantee we'll make an offer at the same price you originally paid, if at all.
We value our horses at the initial point of offering and value their shares accordingly. When a horse improves and shows a higher level of form, the horse's value is likely to increase. This is good for our members as it means the value of your share has now increased too. Should you choose to sell your share, or if it is decided that the horse is to be sold, you could make a reasonable profit on your original share purchase. That is why it can be important to 'get in early' when a new horse is offered to our members.
These will typically be offered to our winning members via a ballot. We prioritise our full members for our prize ballots.
You can find our gift packages of 6 and 12 months lease shares on our 'Shop' page. If you'd like to gift a full membership to someone special, then please contact us directly.
We organise a stable visit at least once every three months for each horse. Every time your horse runs you will have the opportunity for an owners badge and the full VIP experience, including owners lunch, parade ring access with trainer and jockey and celebration champagne if we are lucky enough to win. We will endeavour to get as many badges as possible for our members, but this varies from course to course and priority is given to our full owners. On the rare occasion we are oversubscribed, a ballot will be drawn for full owners badges. As a minimum, Premier Enclosure tickets will be guaranteed every time your horse runs.
If you purchase a share of 20% or higher, you are welcome to visit your horse at their yard when it suits you, with 48hrs notice and prior arrangement with your syndicate manager. Separately, if you can't make it on the day of our dedicated stable visit for your horse, another date can be arranged for you to visit with your syndicate manager.
Family and friends are welcome at all stable visits and are of course welcome to cheer on our horses at the races. We won't be able to provide owners badges for non-members, but on occasions where we have a surplus we will always do our best to accommodate our members' guests.
We aim to run our horses regularly to give shareholders as much value for money and enjoyment as possible — but we will never compromise a horse's long-term career or wellbeing to do so. A fit, healthy horse will typically run 1–2 times per month during the season.
As per the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, every member has a 14 day 'cooling off' period. If you change your mind within two weeks of purchasing a share, you will be entitled to a full refund, no questions asked.
In the unlikely event that you want to cancel your membership with us, the following will apply. Full members may cancel their membership with one month's notice in one of two ways. 1 — providing they have a 'fit and proper person' to sell their share to and take over the monthly payments. 2 — accepting an offer to return their share to WCR, ceasing monthly payments at the end of the notice period. Upon cancellation, any prize money owed to you will be paid at the end of the one month notice period.
Our lease members have set periods of 6, 12 or 18 months, at the end of which they have the opportunity to renew or cease their membership. In all cases, membership will automatically cease when a horse is sold or retired, with no further payments due.
We will do our best to be understanding and assess each instance on an individual basis. With that being said, if a member fails to make their monthly payments for two consecutive months and there is no obvious goodwill from the member to resolve the issue, your share will be forfeited back to WCR and you will not be entitled to a refund of any kind.
WCR policy is usually to try and sell our horses when they reach their peak value, in order to maximise returns for our members. However, there will be occasions where the best option for our horse is to retire them from racing. At the end of their racing careers, our horses will be found five-star forever homes. Members have first priority for re-homing if they have the necessary experience. We will never compromise on welfare.

We're a brand new syndicate, so this page will grow as our members' stories do. Here's what people have to say about being part of Wise Choice Racing.
"What sets Dan apart is his honesty and communication. I always know exactly what's going on and feel really involved."— Dean C, Essex
"You can see how well looked after the WCR horses are and that, alongside Dan's professionalism is what really attracted me to be part of the team."— Linda V, Essex
"Great communication with regular pictures and video updates. Dan makes you feel really involved and a big part of the team."— Harry K, Buckinghamshire
Been part of a WCR syndicate? We'd love to hear from you — get in touch and we may feature your story here.
Please read the relevant terms and conditions carefully before purchasing your share. By completing your purchase you agree to be bound by these terms. If you have any questions please contact us before proceeding.
You are purchasing a permanent share in the horse. This means you are entitled to receive and enjoy all the benefits of racehorse ownership, including your percentage of all prize money won. This will be sent to you bi-annually in June and December of each year.
Your membership ends when your horse is either sold or retired. If your horse is sold, no further money will be due to WCR and you will receive your relevant percentage of sales proceeds. If the horse is retired, no further money will be due to WCR.
Alternatively, our members are entitled to sell their share at any time. You can either sell your share privately at whatever price you like (provided it is to a 'fit and proper person') or we can make you an offer to buy back your share. However, there is no guarantee we'll make an offer at the same price you originally paid, if at all.
The value of the full ownership up-front payment is subject to change at WCR discretion depending on the value of the horse at any given time. This may lead to full-ownership syndicate members paying different up-front payments to one another. This is in the interest of fairness for all our members as it incentivises owners to get involved early and gives them a chance to make a profit for their early backing, should they decide to sell their share. It also disincentivises lease-ownership members upgrading their membership ahead of a potential sale, to try and exploit the full membership option short-term.
Full members may cease their membership with one month's notice in one of two ways.
If you change your mind and want to cancel within two weeks of purchasing a share, you will be entitled to a full refund as you would fall within the 14 day 'cooling-off' period.
If you fail to keep up with monthly payments, we will do our best to be understanding and assess each instance on an individual basis. With that being said, if a member fails to make their monthly payments for two consecutive months and there is no obvious goodwill from the member to resolve the issue, your share will be forfeited back to WCR and you will not be entitled to a refund of any kind. We may also choose to report you to the BHA where it's possible you could be added to the forfeit list.
WCR members will be subject to, and regulated by, certain provisions of the Rules of Racing for the duration of their membership. We expect our members to always adhere to the rules and behave in a proper manner.
Your share entitles you to the opportunity for an owner's badge every time your horse runs. This gives you free entry, access to exclusive owner's areas, complimentary racecard and usually means free or subsidised quality dining and hospitality, though this varies from racecourse to racecourse. Some members will also be granted access to the parade ring to discuss pre-race tactics and expectations with your jockey and trainer. The badge allocation varies from racecourse to racecourse meaning there are likely to be instances where we may be over-subscribed. On these occasions a ballot will be held for every member who wants to attend, with priority given to full members. We try and ensure that every member receives the full ownership experience at least once per season. Where we have spare badges available, we will offer them to our member's guests.
Your initial up-front payment is fixed at the time of purchase and covers the cost of the purchase price of the horse and all up-keep and fees incurred up to the current point in time. We reserve the right to adjust this initial figure for future members, as the value of the horse changes over time.
Your monthly fee helps to cover the cost of all the associated expense of keeping a horse healthy and in training.
Although we aim to maximise potential returns, all members accept that being part of WCR should be seen as a leisure activity and is primarily for enjoyment. WCR does not guarantee a return on your investment.
We aim to run the horse regularly to give shareholders as much value for money and enjoyment as possible, but we will not compromise the horse's long-term career or wellbeing to do so.
You accept that there is an element of risk in that the horse may become lame/injured and may not be able to run as much as we'd like, possibly limiting your value for money at times.
You accept that there is an extremely small chance that the horse may not be able to run at all due to serious injury. In this event, WCR will do our best to source a suitable replacement horse.
It is agreed that while all owners' opinions and wishes are taken into account, the final decision on any training plans, race entries, jockey bookings, riding instructions and any decision regarding selling the horse is to be made by Wise Choice Racing and the trainer.
Any inside information regarding running plans, riding tactics and performance expectations must not be shared with non-shareholders or be made public. We agree to have a circle of trust within the ownership group and you agree to act with responsibility and discretion.
You may bet on our horse to win (back) but must not bet on our horse to lose (lay) or to finish outside the places — this is against the rules of racing and you will be removed as an owner with immediate effect.
